Concerned Citizen

Van, would you please consider spearheading and lead a movement to confront the many problems facing not only the back community, but others in this country who are hurting. As I write this, once again we democratic voters have been stung by winning the popular vote for president, and losing the election. People are out in the streets of many cities across America protesting the soon to be Trump presidency, but, sadly, just as with similar protests that have happened in recent times, they have no clear plan and specific goals or political solutions in mind to make change happen, to make this country more just for all, and its democratic government more representative of the people. The people need a leader to coalesce behind. One who has the knowledge and ability to lay out an organized movement, with leadership carrying it forward, and the commitment to stay the course until some progress is made with the various problems we face. The presidency is lost now. That is the sad fact, but a solid movement to finally do away with the electoral college would help ensure this does not happen again. Obviously, that goal is not the only thing we need to push for. The various other problems, such as growing poverty, violence against African Americans by police who go unpunished, unbelievable incarceration rates of people of color, not treating those with substance abuse problems as a health issue, rather than a criminal one, pushing us towards a green and renewable energy policy, and the influence of big business on government are other issues. If you could help lead people to make some progress with even one of these goals it would be well worth it. I know this seems grandiose to ask of you, and if you really believe you are not the one for such a thing, please, try to find someone who is and do whatever you can to encourage people to stand with that leader. I am asking you....please!

You are our voice

You are our voice for those of us who are saddened and grieved as well as anxious. I'm a Muslim female, mother, physician. This affects me not only because of my faith being targeted, but because of the largely Hispanic patient population I serve and largely Mexican American staff who work their hearts out. It hurts because my patients will not have healthcare . It crosses so many areas . There is more complexity and devastating ripple effects then is obvious to people . Thank you for trying your best and having the courage

Trump was to quiet no one has ran the whole map like that and have this many protest all over the world . He wasn't tweeting r anything and he's very nice right now ? They kept saying there was a secret. Was it Russia , hackers something happened that was criminal and we need to find out what it was. WHAT CAN WE DO THE NATION IS IN TURMOIL.NO JUSTICE NO PEACE!!!!

Thank you Van for standing up for us.

They forgot that trump said that he would pay the lawyer fees for his protesters. It is a very sad day, if trump had lost he would be calling for a re-election, he kept saying that the election was rigged, why isn't he saying that now?

Looking to you for guidance on healing and moving forward...

Dear Van.. I am so very grateful to have come to hear your wise words over these last few months. Like many Americans, I woke up feeling scared, numb and sad. In the last months, I've been consumed with anxiety over this election. It's hard to do the simplest of tasks. But, I do want to heal..in due time. I pledge to take a stand and fight for truth, justice and equality for all. I can't change the outcome but I can be the best person possible and serve my community. Hopefully, we can all come together and become united in shining light on the beauty of America. But how can we start to heal and move forward? Sitting in hurt and anger will not serve us, ultimately.

Very upset and worried because my son is part of the LGBT communitty

Trump will reverse everything Obama has achieved to support LGBT. Marriage discrimination and all rights revoked against them is awful. We should lock him up the racist bigoted pig.

Canadians joined PANTSUIT NATION!

Dear Van, I am currently working on my PhD on Social Injustice that our Aboriginal population is facing. Last night I heard your pain as you expressed your thoughts on whitewash. I could not agree more with you. This race was about RACE - This was all the "-isms" (racism, sexism,...) wrapped into one huge ball eight years in the making, glued together in hate and distrust of the "other" and hurled at President Obama .. As someone who was born in a communist country, I know just how important a vote is. BUT it must be an educated & informed vote. This was not that ...half the population paid no attention to the issues or the day to day events of the past year ..For those shocked by the election results, wondering how it happened - I say - this is how all those rust belt, non-college educated white folks left 8 or 9 years ago. For so many of us this was so obvious - sadly some people could not fathom that a black man was in the White House. The only thing worse would be if he was followed by a woman, especially one that would carry on his legacy. Ironically, those folks that voted against Her, are the very ones in need of Her and Obama's policies! all we can say is- Forgive them Lord, they know not what they've done
