We can diversify Silicon Valley by making it like professional sports ...

Historically, Blacks were systematically overlooked for major league sports because white owners did not a way to monitize our presence there. Today, there is hardly a major team sport that is not dominated by a Black presence. Suffice it to say that it is tremendously EASIER to learn and write computer code than to qualify for spring training in most of the major league sports leagues. Our approach to Silicon Valley needs to be more like what college coaches did when they sought and recruited Black talent for their teams. Get a COACH to fill the Human Resources posts at Silicon Valley’s tech firms. THEY know how to locate and entice Black talent into the ranks — and to retain them there! My point is this. Imagine major league sports here in the USA ‘without’ Black players. I think that the parallels and comparisons to Silicon Valley and the tech industry are the same. Detroit and Watts are much closer than India and China — and the language barriers are fewer.
